Wolves fell to a 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday at Molineux, with the club’s tough start continuing.

Wolves took the lead with a goal from Mario Lemina following a slick breakaway. Jorgen Strand Larsen delivered a precise cross, and Joao Gomes added a clever dummy to set up the opportunity.

Wolves had chances to extend their lead, but Newcastle equalized with a long-range goal from Fabian Schar. Harvey Barnes then added another from distance, putting Newcastle ahead.

While there were some positives for Wolves, such as the debut of new midfielder Andre, the result was frustrating. Gary O’Neil’s side has now recorded just one win in their last 14 games, with tougher fixtures on the horizon.

Despite the 2-1 defeat, Ben Foster highlighted Wolves’ strong performance in his latest YouTube video, offering praise for their efforts.

Wolves were given one of the most challenging starts to the season with a tough fixture list. As a result, fans didn’t have high hopes for the early games, and the outcomes have generally matched those expectations.

Wolves were unlucky against Newcastle though, and were ultimately undone by two strikes from distance – neither of which Sam Johnstone could have done anything about.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster has given his thoughts about Sunday’s game, and admitted he thought Wolves did not deserve to lose.

He said in a new video on his YouTube channel: “I felt for Wolves. I thought Wolves were brilliant. They were really good. They didn’t deserve to lose the game.

“Newcastle just stuck the ball in the back of the net from 25 yards and two different occasions and that was it.”
