Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will join the team for their upcoming game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. This comes just eight days after Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during Week 2’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Coach McDaniel confirmed that Tagovailoa will make the nearly 3,000-mile journey to Seattle with the squad.
Following his concussion, the Dolphins placed Tagovailoa on injured reserve, meaning he is expected to miss at least four games. However, McDaniel has noted that there is currently no specific timeline for Tagovailoa’s return to the field.
Despite his injury, Tua has remained actively engaged with the team, assisting quarterbacks Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley as they prepare for the Seahawks. Huntley shared, “I’ve spent a good hour or two with Tua in the meeting rooms and walkthroughs. He’s been a great resource for me.”
Thompson echoed this sentiment, saying, “Tua’s given me really great advice and has been an invaluable sounding board. I’m thankful for his support during this time. It definitely boosts my confidence having him around.”
The earliest Tagovailoa could potentially be activated is during Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals. While his involvement with the team during recovery is a positive sign, a firm return date will depend on his ongoing progress.
In a reassuring update, running back Raheem Mostert mentioned that Tagovailoa attended a Disney event with families the night after his concussion and showed no visible signs of having been affected.
