A former cricket player has threatened to remove Pakistan’s head coach Gary Kirsten from his position following the Champions Trophy the following year. Following two consecutive lackluster ICC tournament and red-ball cricket performances, Pakistani cricket has been struggling. It all began with Pakistan’s defeat to a youthful Afghanistan team in the round-robin round of the ODI World Cup last year, which prevented them from making it to the semifinals.
Kirsten was appointed head coach of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket squad earlier this year. Kirsten led India to victory in the 2011 ODI World Cup. But things did not go well for him in the T20 World Cup, as they lost to both India, their bitter adversary, and the United States, a country that does not compete in the Test Matches.
The Pakistani squad is currently concentrating on the Champions Trophy, which is slated for February of the following year. Pakistan will have an extra edge in the major ICC tournament as the host country to defend the championship it won in 2017.
