Texas Rangers prospects infielder Gleider Figuereo and right-handed pitcher David Davalillo have been selected for the Carolina League Postseason All-Star team, as determined by league managers. Both players participated in Class-A Down East.
Figuereo, ranked as the Rangers’ No. 20 prospect by MLB Pipeline, is a 20-year-old from the Dominican Republic. He ended his Down East season with a .244/.346/.474/.820 slash line, totaling 12 home runs, four triples, nine doubles, and 32 RBIs over 63 games. Among players in the Carolina League with at least 200 at-bats, he ranked second in slugging percentage, fourth in OPS, and ninth in home runs. He has since been promoted to High-A Hickory, where he achieved career highs with 20 home runs, 97 hits, 16 doubles, and 52 RBIs for the season.
Davalillo, a Venezuelan native, earned his All-Star recognition by going 6-1 with a 1.79 ERA, striking out 79 batters while walking 22 in 17 games, including 16 starts. He led Carolina League pitchers with at least 80 innings in ERA, ranked third in WHIP (1.01) and opponent batting average (.199), and was 11th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.59). After his promotion to Hickory, he finished with a combined record of 8-2 and a 1.88 ERA, amassing 113 strikeouts in 22 games (21 starts) and achieving the lowest ERA among Rangers minor league pitchers with at least 50 innings.
Additionally, Abimelec Ortiz was named the Texas League Player of the Week for September 9-15, after an impressive performance with a .524 batting average (11-for-21) that included four home runs, a double, eight RBIs, and four walks across five games.
The Rangers also announced their full-season minor league award winners: Alejandro Osuna received the Tom Grieve Player of the Year award, Alejandro Rosario was named Nolan Ryan Pitcher of the Year, Bryan Magdaleno was recognized as Reliever of the Year, Cody Freeman earned Defender of the Year honors, and Jax Biggers received the True Ranger Award.
