Reece James’ highly anticipated return to Chelsea has been delayed due to an injury setback. The defender’s hamstring hasn’t healed as quickly as hoped, prolonging his absence from the squad.

Reece James’ return to action has been delayed, with his recovery from a hamstring injury taking longer than anticipated. Reports suggest that progress has slowed, and club doctors believe the injury hasn’t healed as quickly as hoped. However, insiders at Stamford Bridge, as reported by The Sun, have emphasized that there has been no new setback or additional injury to the muscle in question.

James picked up his current injury this summer, following an extended period on the sidelines due to hamstring surgery in December 2023. He featured in just 10 Premier League matches during the 2023-24 season and only 16 the season before. This latest injury also ruled him out of the England squad that reached the final of the 2024 European Championship.

The 24-year-old fullback has suffered a torrid time with hamstring injuries throughout his career, which has undoubtedly prevented him from achieving the full potential of his prodigious talent, yet.

There is no fixed date for James’ comeback, but fans will hope to see a club favourite play first-team football before the end of the calendar year.
