Is he injured? Why did Bayern Munich substitute Manuel Neuer at halftime? Vincent Kompany explains.

Bayern Munich defeated Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 to start the Champions League on a high note. Bayern dominated play for the whole first half, winning 3-0 and cruising into the locker room.

Near midfield, Manuel Neuer, the captain of Bayern, made a trademark sweeper keeper clearance early in the game by flying out of the box.

Sadly, Neuer collided with Josip Mišić, a midfielder for Dinamo Zagreb, and was turned inside out, suffering a catastrophic fall.

Neuer laid on the pitch for a couple minutes but eventually got back up under his own power. Luckily, he didn’t have to make any saves and was eventually subbed off at halftime. His replacement, Sven Ulreich, immediately conceded two goals to put the game in doubt.

Bayern fans were concerned to see a midgame goalkeeper substitution, but it appears that it was more of a safety decision.
