Here’s a predicted lineup for Chelsea’s match against Gent on October 3.

Enzo Maresca steps into a new chapter as the league phase of the Europa Conference League begins for his Chelsea squad. Here’s a predicted lineup for their upcoming clash against Belgian side Gent, as the English club looks to extend their impressive run of form.

Here’s a predicted lineup for Chelsea’s Europa Conference League tie against Gent:

Despite some resistance from the manager, a clear distinction between the A-team and B-team is starting to take shape. The Premier League starting eleven usually includes Robert Sanchez in goal, with Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, and Malo Gusto forming the defensive line. However, Gusto’s recent injury has prompted changes, allowing Axel Disasi and Tosin Adarabioyo to step in and gain some playing time.

The team employs a fluid 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 formation, with either Fernandez or Dewsbury-Hall pushing up to occupy space on the left. Palmer can function as the central attacking midfielder (CAM) or drop back to take on a central midfield role (CM). When facing weaker teams, the formation adopts a more attacking stance, with Felix remaining high while Veiga tucks in next to Casadei in front of a back three. Against lower-tier opposition, the setup shifts to a 3-2-4-1 formation.

Reece James is still the only injured player in the squad, as confirmed by the manager. However, Maresca will also be missing Palmer, Fofana, and recent returnee Romeo Lavia, who played off the bench against the Seagulls. While Ben Chilwell made an appearance in the Carabao Cup, he is not part of the European squad.

The secondary eleven is expected to make their appearance with an eye on Nottingham Forest this weekend, leading to a predicted eleven changes.

Predicted Lineup:

GK: Filip Jorgensen
LB: Renato Veiga
CB: Benoit Badiashile
CB: Tosin Adarabioyo
RB: Axel Disasi
DM:  Cesare Casadei
DM/CM:  Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
CM/AM: Joao Felix
LW: Mykhailo Mudryk
RW:  Pedro Neto
ST: Christopher Nkunku
