As frustrating as the 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt was for Bayern Munich, it brought sheer joy to Frankfurt. While this match may not have reached the heights of some of their historic victories over Bayern, scoring a last-minute equalizer is always exhilarating. However, needing that late goal raises concerns about the team’s overall performance. Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller addressed these issues, as noted on Bayern’s official website.
“The end of the game was wild. Bayern pressured us from the start. We wanted to be more proactive, but we ended up defending deep. Their set pieces were particularly dangerous. It’s frustrating to concede goals in that manner, and in a couple of instances, we were lucky not to concede even more. There were many crosses from the wings that felt threatening, but thankfully, they didn’t lead to any goals,” Toppmöller explained.
In contrast, Frankfurt’s star duo, Hugo Ekitiké and Omar Marmoush, were delighted with their team’s performance. Ekitiké emphasized the importance of teamwork over individual accolades.
“We did a great job today. We fought hard as a team. It was a challenging game, and we had to defend a lot. This feels like a win for us. I’m really happy for the team; we put in a lot of effort for this result,” Ekitiké said.
Marmoush echoed that sentiment, focusing on their collective effort.
“We performed very well today. We played as a cohesive unit and showed great strength. We stuck together both defensively and offensively, and we were clinical in front of goal. We didn’t create many chances, but we capitalized on the ones we had. We’re very happy with the outcome,” Marmoush stated.
