In the 90th minute of Atletico Madrid’s Champions League first match against RB Leipzig, Conor Gallagher entered the game as a replacement.
After 28 minutes, Antoine Griezmann equalised with his 37th goal of the tournament, following a strike from Benjamin Sesko that put the German visitors ahead in the fourth minute.
The champion of the France World Cup, Griezmann scored a goal with a volleyed effort from 12 yards out, but RB Leipzig custodian Peter Gulacsi made a fantastic save to prevent a second goal.
Griezmann’s cross found Jose Maria Gimenez, who headed the ball into the net with a downward motion, to set up the thrilling late winner.
England midfielder Gallagher, who cost roughly £33 million to transfer to Atletico in August, entered the game in the 63rd minute with the score tied at one.
