Alex Bowman breaks down his feelings over Joey Logan’s championship win after Roval drama…
In a candid interview, Alex Bowman opened up about his emotions and thoughts regarding Joey Logano’s 2024 NASCAR Cup Series championship victory especially in the wake of the dramatic events at the Charlotte Roval. Bowman, who had been a key contender for the title this season, was directly impacted by Logano’s actions during the Roval race, a pivotal moment that shifted the dynamics of the championship battle.
The Charlotte Roval, known for its mix of road course and oval racing, had already been a high-pressure event due to the nature of the track and the stakes at hand. With a playoff berth on the line, Bowman found himself battling with Logano and other playoff contenders. What seemed like a routine race quickly escalated after a controversial incident between Bowman and Logano. In a crucial moment of the race, Bowman found himself in the middle of a late-race clash with Logano, a situation that led to Bowman’s untimely exit from the race and effectively ruined his chances of advancing to the next round of the playoffs.
Reflecting on the incident, Bowman admitted that the frustration was hard to hide. “It’s definitely tough to go through a race like that and have it end the way it did, especially when you’re so close to making it to the next round,” Bowman said. “I think everybody saw how hard we fought all year to be in contention, and then for something like that to happen, it’s just tough to swallow.”
Despite the setback, Bowman expressed his respect for Logano as a driver and acknowledged his remarkable resilience throughout the season. “Joey has always been a talented driver, and when it comes to winning championships, he’s proven that he can perform under pressure,” Bowman noted. “You can’t take away from what he did this year. He earned it.”
However, Bowman couldn’t completely shake the sting of the Roval incident. “I think there were some moments during the Roval race that could have gone differently, and if they had, we might be talking about a different story,” Bowman said. He went on to clarify that, while racing is inherently unpredictable and sometimes even unfair, his personal feelings about the incident were still raw.
With the championship now decided, Bowman shifted his focus toward the future. He emphasized his team’s commitment to learning from the setbacks of this season, including the Roval drama. “We’ve all got to work together to make sure we come back stronger,” he said. “Next season is a new opportunity, and I’m excited to see what we can do with the lessons we’ve learned.”
Though Logano’s title was certainly a point of contention, Bowman was adamant that the competitive nature of NASCAR made moments like these an integral part of the sport. “In the end, it’s all part of what makes this sport so thrilling – the highs and the lows. You have to take it all in stride,” he concluded
