Aaron Rodgers Still Has It? Jets QB Delivers Again
The New York Jets had a rocky start to the 2024 season but dominated the Patriots in Week 3, securing a 24-3 win with Aaron Rodgers carving up the New England defense. The signs of his resurgence were there the previous week. Let’s take a look back.
After a 24-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans, Rodgers showed flashes of his former self. His Week 2 stats—18 completions from 30 attempts for 176 yards and two touchdowns—might not seem impressive at first glance, but when it mattered most, he delivered.
With the Jets needing a late-game touchdown to take the lead, Rodgers led an eight-play, 74-yard drive in just over four minutes. Though it may not appear extraordinary, Rodgers went 5/5 for 60 yards on that drive, including key passes to Garrett Wilson (26 yards) and Mike Williams (19 yards), setting up a 20-yard touchdown run by Braelon Allen. CBS Sports noted, “Aaron Rodgers still has his signature touch. While he’s not as consistent through the air, he came through in clutch moments to help the Jets edge out the Titans.”
After a crushing defeat to the 49ers, the Jets were desperate for a win to settle brewing frustrations. While Rodgers may no longer be the MVP-caliber player from his Green Bay days, if he continues to perform as he did, New York could make some noise in 2024.
