Cole Palmer propelled Chelsea to a 4-2 victory over Brighton with a remarkable hat-trick

Chelsea defeated Brighton 4-2 at Stamford Bridge, making Cole Palmer the first player in Premier League history to score four goals in the first half of a game.

Palmer scored his sixth goal in six games, including a fantastic free kick in the 31st minute, as he continued his incredible Chelsea career.

The Blues had fallen behind early on in the west London encounter and were far from their best.

The team led by Enzo Maresca got out to a sloppy start, and a bad goalkeeping play allowed them to score early. Brighton launched an attack down the left. Georginio Rutter beat Robert Sanchez to the ball and nodded into the empty net after Levi Colwill failed to handle a straightforward clearance.

The Blues weren’t the best. Before Palmer was able to get past him one-on-one against the flow of play, they lost all of their duel encounters and made poor passes. The 22-year-old’s rough attempt on the goal served as a prelude to his subsequent clinical performance.

After Adam Webster’s misplaced back pass, Nicolas Jackson pounced and set up Cole Palmer, who calmly tapped in the opening goal.

Chelsea weathered the early pressure and quickly turned the game around after the break. Jadon Sancho drew a foul from Carlos Baleba, earning a penalty, which Palmer expertly converted, placing it in the bottom left corner.

Palmer then capped off his incredible performance with a stunning free-kick, curling it into the top left corner to complete his hat-trick and extend Chelsea’s lead to 3-1. It was a remarkable afternoon for the young winger, highlighting his skill and poise in front of goal.
