After being spotted switching clothes with Kylian Mbappe at halftime of Alaves’ match against Real Madrid, defender Abdel Abqar was replaced.
Lucas Vazquez gave Real Madrid the early advantage in their La Liga matchup throughout the week, and after 40 minutes, Mbappe increased the score to 2-0. Abqar was seen removing the French forward’s shirt as the squad left the field for the half.
According to reports, coach Luis Garcia was not pleased with the 25-year-old’s behavior when Jon Guridi came on for the second half. Still, it took just three minutes for Rodrygo to put Madrid 3-0 up, though Alaves rallied back with two late goals as the game finished 3-2.Later, the Alaves manager refuted that the center back’s behavior was the reason for his removal, stating: “I’m not sure what he did. I wanted to work on anything, a small tactical item, therefore I wanted to tweak something.
Madrid trails Barcelona at the top of the standings despite their continued undefeated streak in La Liga. They play Atletico Madrid on Sunday when they return to action.
