In a recent interview with ClutchPoints, former New York Giants star Tiki Barber shared his thoughts on the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles after their recent losses. Barber, now an NFL analyst for CBS and WFAN radio host, voiced concerns about the Cowboys following their 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
He praised the Saints, especially the impact of first-year offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, but criticized the Cowboys’ defense for allowing touchdowns on the first six possessions.
Barber highlighted the Cowboys’ defensive struggles, noting, “To give up 44 points when you’re supposed to be an elite defense is concerning.
He pointed out that while the Cowboys had moments of luck, like the CeeDee Lamb touchdown, they largely failed to perform. Despite the criticism, Barber stressed that it’s still early in the season and too soon to make definitive judgments.
This marked the Cowboys’ second consecutive blowout loss at home, following their 48-32 defeat to the Green Bay Packers in the previous season’s Wild Card round.
The loss to New Orleans was also their first regular season home defeat since 2022’s season opener.
Barber also touched on the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent 22-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. While he wasn’t as alarmed by the Eagles’ defeat, he did remark that they “gave the game away.
Barber explained that the Eagles had an opportunity to seal the win before Atlanta’s game-winning drive, but a dropped pass by Saquon Barkley on a crucial 3rd-and-3 left the door open for Kirk Cousins and Drake London to secure the victory for the Falcons.
