Chelsea is reportedly prepared to offer Brazilian prodigy Estevao Willian a prominent role in the team upon his arrival from Palmeiras.
The 17-year-old is set to officially join the Blues next summer following a deal worth up to £55 million. Estevao has been on Chelsea’s radar since Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure, and the transition to Enzo Maresca as head coach has not affected the club’s interest in the talented forward.
Traditionally, the Blues have loaned out promising young players, but Estevao’s arrival is expected to break that pattern. According to GiveMeSport, the attacking midfielder has made it clear that he wants to play in the number 10 role at Stamford Bridge, a demand that the club reportedly accepted during contract negotiations.
While Cole Palmer will continue to be Chelsea’s main option in the number 10 role, Estevao has been promised game time in that position as well as opportunities on the wing. This clearly reflects the club’s excitement about signing Estevao and highlights their belief in Palmer as their key attacking player for the future.
In announcing s signing earlier this summer, Chelsea noted: “The 17-year-old has already built a strong reputation in South America as one of the most exciting talents, known for his skillful dribbling and electric pace, which have posed challenges for defenses during his breakout season in senior football.”
