Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick offered insights on Wednesday evening about his plans for the returning attacker Ansu Fati.
Winger Ansu Fati has been at the forefront of the headlines in Catalonia today. This comes after the 21-year-old was named to a Barcelona matchday squad for the first time this season.
Having received medical clearance after recovering from a foot injury, Ansu Fati has been included in Barcelona’s squad for their Champions League season opener against AS Monaco.
In his pre-match press conference, it was expected that Hansi Flick would be asked about his young winger, Ansu Fati. The German coach’s response was particularly notable.
Flick indicated that Ansu could play a key role against AS Monaco, mentioning he might be on the pitch for 30 to 45 minutes since he’s fully fit. He also hinted at a new attacking position for the Spanish international, saying, “Ansu Fati could play around 30 minutes, even 45, as he’s ready. I know where he’ll fit into our attack, but I won’t disclose that now since the game is tomorrow. He enjoys playing football, and we want players who can score goals.”
