Jorginho says Arsenal are unfazed in face of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland’s form – ‘Doesn’t get to our head’

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has downplayed the impact of Erling Haaland’s outstanding goalscoring form, stating that it “doesn’t get to our head” as Mikel Arteta’s team prepares for their visit to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. He added that Haaland’s impressive tally is “starting to make us laugh,” and emphasized that the Gunners are not intimidated by the prospect of facing the Premier League’s leading scorer.

As first reported by The Mirror, Jorginho said, “We watch all the games because we love football and the Premier League, so it’s natural for us to keep an eye on [City] as well. But it doesn’t distract us. We need to stay focused on our own game, and that’s what we’re doing.”

In the previous season, Arsenal and Manchester City played two closely fought matches, with Arsenal winning 1-0 at the Emirates and the teams drawing 0-0 at the Etihad.

Despite their efforts, Arsenal’s attempts to overcome the Premier League champions fell short, as Guardiola’s side clinched their fourth consecutive league title with a strong finish to the season.

Jorginho reflected on Arsenal’s growing mentality as they strive for their first top-flight title since the 2003/04 season. “The team is working together through the process,” he said. “We’re learning more about each other and improving because everyone is committed to getting better and wants the best for the team.”

“When you prioritize the team above everything else, good things tend to follow,” Jorginho said. “We need to stick with this mindset and keep believing in what we’re doing. I’m confident that we’re on the right track.”

While the 0-0 draw at the Etihad last season was seen as a positive result, Jorginho stressed the importance of adopting a more relentless approach to secure points against title contenders. “To achieve significant goals, you need to aim to win every single game,” he explained. “That’s our goal and what we’re working towards.”
